Senior Software Engineer | PKI & Authentication Systems
I'm a senior software engineer specializing in authentication systems, PKI, and application security. Currently, I architect and maintain security-critical systems at SSL.com, a recognized global PKI vendor, where I build solutions that protect millions of users.
I design systems that need to work flawlessly under pressure. My authentication engine serves tens of thousands daily users, and I've reduced SMS pump fraud attempts to zero through custom security implementations including dynamic risk scoring, device fingerprinting, and behavioral pattern analysis. I've also improved system fault tolerance and prevented numerous security incidents through proactive architecture and code review.
My expertise centers on the intersection of cryptography and practical security. I've implemented OAuth2 and SAML authentication flows with certificate-based encryption, built MPIC compliance systems per Baseline Requirements, and developed cross-domain authentication solutions with advanced session security features. I work extensively with certificate lifecycle management at scale - SSL.com issues thousands of certificates daily across TLS, code signing, and other use cases.
While my primary work is in Ruby on Rails, I'm also proficient in JS, Python, C, and C++. I thrive on backend challenges that require unconventional thinking - the kind of problems where security, performance, and user experience must all align perfectly.
I contribute to the developer community through open source work, including omniauth_oidc, a library for OpenID Connect authentication. I've also written about combating SMS pump fraud and implementing OIDC authentication on Medium, sharing practical solutions to real-world security challenges.
Previously, I was part of the early core team at Midstay, where I built sophisticated features across the full stack. Before transitioning to software engineering, I worked in big oil and commodity trading - a background that taught me to think systematically about complex problems.
I'm currently exploring senior engineering opportunities where I can leverage my specialized expertise in PKI, authentication systems, and security architecture. If you're building systems where security is paramount and complexity is the norm, let's connect.
